About Me
I am a self-taught artist from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Formerly an elementary school teacher, I'm living out a lifelong dream of being an artist. I considered myself an explorer in many areas of the arts, but the pull to pursue painting could not be ignored.(channeling my Dutch heritage of artists!)
I mostly paint in acrylic but would say mixed media is more accurate as I love to add collage and mark making elements to my work. I've recently been exploring in oils and I'm finding it to be such a rewarding medium. I am primarily self-taught, but my qualifications and education include a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Education, and, Art Success Masters by Pamela Caughey (MFA, Fine Artist and Instructor). My work has been accepted into several exhibitions: The Gallery in the Grove, Brights Grove, Ontario, Part Crowd Gallery, Toronto, Ontario, as well as the Society of Canadian Artists 2025 Exhibition. More recently, I've had several pieces exhibited and sold in the Jackalope Gallery in Toronto, Ontario.
My paintings, whether abstract or semi-abstract landscape, reflect the process of intuitive mark-making and merging layers of complex and contrasting elements to tell the story within.
